Members of all boating organizations are welcome.
If you are not a BYC member, please stop at the entrance and sign in as a guest (that’s to keep the Liquor Control Board happy).
Christmas Lighted Boat Parade!
The Lighted Boat Parade is an annual event sponsored by Bellingham Yacht Club in coordination with the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. Each year boaters from all the area clubs decorate their boat to participate in the parade which follows a route from Squalicum Harbor to the Bellingham Cruise Terminal along Boulevard Park. A review boat hosting VIPs is anchored near Star Rock Buoy. Boats are judged using criteria such as originality, visual presence and Christmas spirit. Volunteer VIPs aboard the review boat act as judges and awards are given for several categories. After the parade, participants are invited to Bellingham Yacht Club for appetizers, hot soup and/or chili and beverages, with the awards presentation to follow.
This year’s theme…“The Magic of Christmas”
Boaters head for the rendezvous at 5:30 pm off the Ferry Terminal and cruise along the waterfront. We will take a swing through the boat launch basin before heading back to the club for appetizers, homemade soups, and the award ceremony.
We are once again inviting boaters to join in on the fun and become a part of this annual holiday event. To include your boat in this event please click the green “Register” button above or the link below.

***BYC OPENING DAY EVENTS CANCELLED***
To all of our members and special guests,
The tragedy of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to ripple through our community, and it is with extreme sadness that we announce the decision that we must cancel the Bellingham Yacht Club’s 2020 Opening Day events, including the Member’s Reception, Public Ceremony, Opening Day Boat Parade, and Opening Day Party.
As all of you who have attended this event in past years are aware, the amount of time, effort, and planning that goes into making this day so memorable is monumental. We would like to thank Fleet Captain Cathy Herbold and her dedicated team of volunteers for all of the work they have accomplished so far to make this a successful event.
Thank you for your understanding and support during these tumultuous times.
Bellingham Yacht Club
Following the morning formalities will be the parade, and this year’s theme is “A Three-Hour Tour”. Those of you old enough to remember Gilligan’s Island will no doubt recognize the reference right away. Those of you who didn’t grow up with the show might want to look up a few episodes to get some theme ideas. After the parade, the celebration starts in earnest with ship visiting on the dock followed by the party in the club. The Dead Pirate’s Society will be serving up barbecued oysters and shrimp, and the Penny Stinkers will be returning with their indelible, danceable tunes.
