We had a pretty good turn out at my First Annual Soup Cook-off/Feed the Homeless event here at the club on Sunday with about 40-50 members and guests all together. We all had a great time watching the Hawks crush the Ravens 35-6. We had at least 12 delicious soups to sample, and everyone was to vote for their two favorites. Our very own Steve Hayward took home the gold with his Cream of Potato Soup. Melanie Pysden took silver for her Whiskey Bacon Chicken Soup and Brian Barge narrowly won bronze with his Jalapeno Bacon Cheddar Soup.

My Thrivent (Financial) Action Team and I were able to deliver seven gallons of hot soup to the Light House Mission, along with seven cases of hand warmers and about ten pounds of coats, hats, and gloves. It’s great to be part of a company that lives generously, and gives back it’s profits to the community.

Many thanks to everyone for supporting this event and joining in on the fun. All your donations of soup and clothing made a huge difference. Everyone had a great time, and we’re looking forward to continuing this event next year, and for years to come!
