What opens, but never closes? — The Opening Day of Boating Season, a Pacific Northwest Tradition!

Bellingham Bay’s boating season starts with an Opening Day Ceremony and Boat Parade sponsored by the Bellingham Yacht Club, Saturday, May 4th. The traditional ceremony, which includes: the Blessing of the Fleet by Bishop Kevin Allen; presentation of the colors; and acknowledgement of outstanding service of the boating community will occur at 11:30 a.m. at the Bellingham Yacht Club. The public is invited to attended.

Boaters are invited to participate in the decorated boat parade. This year’s theme is: Derby Days (as in Kentucky Derby. Flamboyant hats will be de rigueur ). Prizes will be awarded. Boats away immediately after the ceremony to rendezvous at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferry Terminal.

Participants must register to win prizes. For more information contact Fleet Captain Mick Corcoran at micksails@aol.com.
