A Ranger 26 sailboat (Mo’Betta) has been donated to BYC and we are in the process of trying to set up a program for its use. Bob Hollingsworth, a certified ASA instructor, is volunteering his time to teach classes but we need volunteers to work on the boat and to get input from the BYC membership as to the interest in the program.
The objective of the program would be to teach the sailing skills required for cruising in a keelboat. The program would generally follow the course outline to get ASA certification to charter a sailboat. The classes could be targeted to youth or adults and would start in May-June with weekend classes in basic sailing skills and then progress through the summer with more advanced cruising skills. Anyone interested in such a program can call Arne Ahlen (360-201-9895) or John Stocklass (360-927-3239).
Mo”Betta still needs work to get her ready for this program and we are looking for volunteers to assist Bob. Some of the work requires experienced help but much of it is simple cleanup. Anyone interested in helping please call Bob Hollingsworth (360-733-7126) or Mick Corcoran (360-319-5448)
