On Saturdy, the Dale Jepsen One Design Regatta greeted the sailors with 10 – 15 knot winds which built to a steady 20 knots by 1:00 p.m. The blustery conditions tested sailors heavy air sailing capabilities and overall fitness. Capsizes kept the safety and mark boats busy all day, ensuring that the sailors safely righted their boats to finish the race or retire in some cases.

Sunday morning dawned with rain squalls and strong winds. After a brief postponement to allow a vigorous squall to pass, the wind calmed down to 12-18 knots and racing commenced. The wind dropped steadily throughout the day and by 2:30 the last racers on the course battled light winds to finish.

Apres racing found the competitors congregating at the BYC Clubhouse for pizza, door prizes and the awards.

A big Thank You to all of this year’s competitors for attending and to the BYC Race Committee and volunteers who helped to make this a great regatta!
