Join hosts Mandy and Jim West for a fun-filled weekend at Semiahmoo resort.  Semiahmoo is a fantastic destination and Jim and Mandy have a lot of great activities planned.  There's limited availability at the dock but you can also anchor nearby, or drive up.  (See below for more info.) You don't need to call Semiahmoo, about 2 weeks before the cruise we'll contact you about moorage.  

This is an excellent opportunity for non-boaters to join our cruise festivities.  Drive up for the day or spend the weekend.  Hotel discounts are available.  Please email Amanda if you would like more information.

Reservations required by May 7 so we can finalize headcount for all of the activities.

Arrivals throughout the day 

 Docktails at 4:00 pm at the Marina outdoor lounge/pavilion      

 Group dinner reservation at Packers at 5:30-6 pm ish if people are interested.

Saturday, May 27, 2023           

8:00 am -1:00 pm Pickleball arranged as interested.  Jim, Amanda and Patty and John are available to host guests.  Equipment provided.  Suitable for beginners to learn the basics and advanced play.

2:00 pm optional guided bird walk.  Meets in the resort lobby.  No charge or sign up required.  Tour lasts around 1 hour but guests can leave sooner or stay and learn more from Phil, our local guide and Audubon expert.

4:00 pm Memorial Day Tribute, followed by dinner provided by the Chispita de Sabor food truck, live music by Chill DeVille and dancing.  Chill DeVille plays a fun, wide ranging mix of classic rock, blues, R&B and a few originals.  The food truck bill be serving mexican food from 4-7 and has a great menu. This event is co-hosted with the SMYC.  Awnings are available for shade/inclement weather.  Event to be held in the Flagpole/outdoor pavilion area.  See below for more info on the Veteran's Day Tribute.

3:30 pm Shuttle to Wests home.  (1 mile from marina)  It’s also a lovely walk along the spit. 

4:00- 6:00 pm Sip and Paint and/or billiards and lawn games.  Please bring a Memorial Day themed appetizer to share.  Wine and beer will be provided.  *See notes on Sip and Paint below.

6:30-7:00 pm ish BYC bonfire, games and music jam session at the Marina pavilion/ lounge area.

Rest/departures

Semiahmoo Marina

One 50ft reciprocal slip is available free of charge for the weekend.  (Recipient asked to consider contributing this savings to the beer and wine and live band fund.)   All other slips are charged at a rate of $1.50 per foot, per night and include 30 AMP power and water.  Five slips are guaranteed but they will try and accommodate any boats we have arriving that wish to be in a slip verses on anchor.  Anchoring in the harbor is good and landing fees for our tenders will be waived.  A separate landing dock for BYC tenders will be provided. 

May 1, 2023 is the deadline for slip reservations.  BYC will collect ship info and forward to Semiahmoo  Marina. 

Fuel is available for purchase and customers are eligible for 20% off General Store and Café purchases.

All BYC members will have access by gate code to the restrooms, showers, laundry, café lounge and the marina outdoor lounge and pavilion areas. Parking will be available for non-boating members.

Marina General Store is open 8-5 pm daily and offers ship supplies, sundries, beer and wine and a unique collection of local arts and crafts.  Lawn games can also be checked out here.

Veterans Day Tribute

BYC and Semiahmoo Marina YC would like to take the opportunity on Saturday, May 27, 2023, to honor our club Veterans.  A ceremony will be held at the Semiahmoo Marina patio/flagpole pavilion.  The ceremony will include a moment of silence, changing of the flags, a live performance of Taps and recognition of our Veterans.  If anyone would like to be honored or participate, please arrive by 3:45 pm.  If you would like to participate in the ceremony in an active role, such as raising a flag, please email Amanda West at

This event is part of the BYC Memorial weekend cruise.  It is an excellent location/opportunity for non-boaters to drive up and enjoy the festivities.  A potluck dinner and live band will follow the ceremony. 

We all look forward to the opportunity to recognize our Veterans.

Sip and Paint Party

This event is featuring local artist Georgia Donovan.  Georgia is a very talented local artist and you can check out her work on her website.  The cost will be $20-25/person.  The artwork will feature a nautical theme.  Wine and beer will be provided.  Men and women are welcome to paint.  For those who do not wish to paint, billiards and lawn games are available.  Please bring an appetizer with a Memorial Day theme to share.  Think heavy apps or light dinner and prizes may be awarded based on theme.  Transportation will be provided.  Location is 1 mile from marina.  Reservation deadline TBD.  Georgia is a fantastic artist and well known and is providing us this opportunity as a friend of ours.  The event is deeply discounted J  It is the next best thing to owning a Georgia Donovan original.  It is of course available for any non-boaters joining our cruise for the day.

On-site Dining

Marina Café- open 8am -5pm daily.  Full espresso bar, smoothies, light breakfast and soups and sandwiches.

Packers Kitchen and Bar- open 7a-10pm daily, take out is also available.  Located on the waterfront of the Semiahmoo Resort.  Featuring fresh seafood, handcrafted pizzas and local specialties.  Happy hour 3-4:00pm daily.  Groups of more than two should consider a reservation.

Memorial Weekend Semiahmoo Resort BBQ.  Annual event hosted in the waterside tent pavilion throughout the weekend.  More details to follow.
