Come to our first "Fireside Chat"!  The concept behind these events is to give members a chance to learn more about nautical topics and share ideas in an informal setting.  For each event we will make sure that at least one or two members are present that are experts or very experienced at whatever the topic is.  This should be useful and rewarding for you whether you are also an expert or just want to learn more.  The exact agenda will depend on what you, the audience, want to discuss.

The topic for this chat is "Racing 101" and can include topics such as:

• Racing Rules of Sailing
• Basics of crew roles and responsibilities - including "how to get invited back" for crew and "how to get them to return for skippers"!
• Basic sail trim
• Skippers new to racing - what do you need to know?
• PHRF handicap rules and ratings and "One Design" racing
• Different downwind sail setups
• How to prepare your boat
• Resources for finding out more
• Safety, MOB etc.
• Clothing

Race Fleet Captain Jon Stocklass will preside but is hoping some other experiened racers will join him.
