MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL IS IN FULL SWING:
The MNF pool is in going fine, and there are even a few squares left for those of you that would still like to play. It only takes winning one quarter between now and the end of the season to get your $10 investment back. Several members have won past quarters in the pool but have not collected yet. If your last name is Johnson, Ross, Vaughn, Poulos, Callery, McCardle, Mumford or Heward, you may want to come to Monday Night Football ASAP at the BYC and collect your winnings! … Randy Nulle
BARTENDING CLASS COMING SOON…
We are going to try to offer a bar licensing class to potential new bartenders as well as current bartenders whose license will be lapsing or my have already lapsed.
We need to have a minimum of 6 people signed up in order to arrange and hold a class. If you are interested in attending, we want to hear from you. Please e-mail Trudy Kelsoe at mahalocat@gmail.com or call 360-738-3095. Once we have a enough for a class, we will try to find a date that works for everyone interested.
A big thank you to those who make the time to volunteer for BYC. — Trudy

MORE ABOUT THE CLUBHOUSE FLAGS…
I regret that last week, I neglected to credit Jody Erickson and Dick Johnson who also worked on our new burgee display. Sorry! Thanks to you, too and any others that helped with the project that I overlooked. — Joe Coons
OUR BIGGEST VOLUNTEER FUN DAY IS NOVEMBER 19th:
Write down the date now! Our fall Club Scrub — usually held in October — will be on November 19th from 8:30 to 12:30 plus lunch.
If you’ve never been to a Club Scrub, you’ve missed a great chance to have fun — and even more important — make new friends here! Here’s what we do: (1) Committee Members and Club leaders make a list of everything that has to be done inside and outside our Clubhouse to get it back to perfect condition. (2) Any Member who can, shows up that day and chooses items from the list that he or she feels proficient at completing. (3) We all pitch in and get it done. (4) Then we all get together to enjoy a free lunch of Pizza and beverages of our choice before we go home, satisfied with a job that is always well doneand satisfying.
This Fall day, which we have also every Spring in April before Opening Day, obviously spreads the work: if 45 of us show up (not unusual) and work those four hours, it’s like having four full time maintenance people on the job for a month! What a difference we make. There is a task for everyone’s aptitudes or interests: From changing light bulbs to painting to electronics adjustments to office filing to simply making our facilities spic and span, your time can really help our “Place on the Bay”.
Do not underestimate the camaraderie that occurs at the Club Scrub: It really is a great way to enjoy new friendships as we all work to help our organization.
The Club Scrub idea came from the Sodus Bay Yacht Club in upstate New York; you can see their burgee over the lower lounge TV set next time you’re at the Club. Who said you can’t steal good ideas? See you there…And if you can’t be there, look at the list (changed since last week) here and pick something you can do ahead of time — that would be great, too. Thank you. Don’t forget to bring your tools as required if you have them!

PICTURE OF THE WEEK:
A number of people correctly identified Lummi Island – Al Callery and Paul Beich were the first to name the specific: Carter Point on the south end of the Island.
This week’s picture is from a bit farther away, but you could get there by boat from here (and some of you may have done so …).
Please send your guesses to steve.ross@wwu.edu.
ABOUT OUR SHIP’S STORE:
Terry Tavelli reminded me that the Ship’s Store is only accessible from within the Member’s Section of the new BYC BYC.ORG Website. Once you’re signed in, just click on “Ship’s Store”! Thanks, Terry….
